Compressive Rim Lock
The CAPLOK Compressive Rim Lock (CRL) has been developed to provide a strong and secure lock solution that provides all the features and functionality that is currently required.
The CAPLOK CRL is installed within the doorframe’s hinge stile member where it is securely protected against damage or tampering.
When the door is in the captive position, by simply rotating the key, a solid compressive block is inserted between the back edge of the door and the capture channel web.
If a door is forced against the compressive block there is no rotational or lateral force applied to the lock mechanism.
With such a simple, secure, and highly effective locking system, any door can be locked by one or more of the CAPLOK CRL locks, or other locking devices can be used to supplement a single CAPLOK CRL.
When the door installation includes the CAPLOK door alignment cam mechanism, the CRL is assured of obstruction and friction free movement for both the lock’s engagement and disengagement.
For extreme applications the Interlocking Compressive Rim Lock mechanism can be used.
This mechanism is very similar to the standard CRL, but it includes a small interlocking element that engages with the door when the door comes into contact with the lock. In this position the door locks the CRL block in a position to retain the door in the captive positon. The greater the force the door applied on the CRL block the more secure the lock becomes.
The CRL can only be released when the door is in the fully captive positon.
As the Interlocking CRL mechanism allows a locked captive door to have a 5mm sideways movement, this locking mechanism should be used in conjunction with a standard CRL mechanism or the CAPLOK door alignment cam mechanism
